Lose yourself in our beautiful surroundings
Meander through over 2.5 acres (approx 1.2 ha) of award winning gardens at Eden Gardens North Ryde and you’ll never want to leave. They’re free to enter and most areas are wheelchair accessible, take advantage of the elevated skywalk for a bird’s eye view. With their varied themes, colours and interesting features, our gardens make a beautiful backdrop for wedding photography and a perfect location for holding events, visit our Eden Events page for more details.
Award winning landscape design
Designed by Landscape Architect Jon Shinkfield from PSB, the Display Gardens won a commendation in the 2005 NSW Awards for Design in Landscape Architecture. Peppered with interesting sculpture and water features, the gardens combine elements of contemporary Australian and European design with those of native Sydney sandstone ridge-top vegetation. Established Eucalyptus haemastoma (scribbly gums) create a visual link with the neighbouring Lane Cove National Park.
Inspirational gardening ideas
Grab a notebook and pen and explore our inspirational themed garden beds, which provide great ideas which really motivate you to get into your own garden or outdoor space. Among them are the Garden Gurus Floating Garden, the Cottage Garden, the Courtyard Garden, the Japanese Garden and the Moonlight Garden. The mature plants they showcase allow you to really see what specimens you buy will become and help you to plan your own design.
The Green Backyard
The Green Backyard, created by our landscape design service Eden by Design, provides heaps of ideas on how to incorporate sustainability into your daily life. We grow herbs and vegies there and it has a water tank, compost bin, worm farm, and even Thelma and Louise - our chooks!
The fresh produce is used in the Dragonfly Café kitchen and our food scraps are reused in the garden as worm food and compost.
Get your kids out of the house and into the garden!
Kids will love playing in the Children’s Garden, a magical place with fun interactive sculptures including a giant bee hive! Educate the kids by pointing out the different elements in the local eco system on our fascinating mural, stencilled by students from 3 local primary schools in 2007.
The Daffodil Garden
Eden Gardens actively supports The Cancer Council NSW and with them created the Daffodil Garden as a place of thanks, remembrance and hope for those who have been touched by cancer. This beautiful garden hosts a Wall of Memory and a Wall of Recognition with plaques dedicated to some of Cancer Council’s key donors.
The Asthma & Allergy Friendly Garden
On Monday 21st September 2009, over 200 people came to see Australian Author and asthmatic Thomas Keneally officially open the new Asthma and Allergy Friendly Garden in the Eden Display Gardens. The first of its kind in Sydney, this garden has been developed by Eden by Design in conjunction with Asthma Foundation NSW to educate and support people living with asthma and allergies and help them enjoy the wonderful benefits of gardening. Visit Eden to pick up an information leaflet on the garden and plants used in the design or contact Asthma Foundation NSW for help in managing your asthma.
