As part of our social and environmental commitment, Eden Gardens is proud to be a major sponsor of Community Greening.
Community Greening is a valuable community service jointly coordinated by the Botanic Gardens Trust and the New South Wales Department of Housing. Community Greening encourages and supports social housing residents and communities living with disadvantage to establish and participate in communal gardening projects.
Eden Gardens’ sponsorship includes financial assistance to the program as a whole and the supply of a wide range of plants and materials for community gardens and community nurseries.
Eden Gardens provides a place of inspiration for Community Greening groups to visit and will assist Community Greening in the creation of display gardens to increase awareness of communal gardening. Eden Gardens promotes Community Greening throughout the Horticulture Industry by encouraging sponsorship and the donation of plants and services.
Through the support of Community Greening Eden is helping to:
- green and renew the urban environment
- improve health and community resilience
- give a helping hand to communities in need
- increase gardening skills and employment opportunities
- promote recycling and sustainable life styles
- increase community ownership of public spaces
- educate the community (especially children and youth) to value the natural environment
"Eden Gardens is fulfilling its own commitment to social responsibility and sound environmental practices by supporting this worthwhile cause. "
Janelle Hatherly, Community Education Manager, Botanic Gardens Trust
"Your ongoing support is invaluable to us and without that we feel it would not be the success it has evolved into."
Steve and Jacquie Scowcroft, Ambarvale residents and community nursery volunteers
